It's very handy until you're hearing the digestive systems of everyone in a 10ft radius. Or sounds that only dogs can hear. Thankfully I've got a set of earbuds that filter the worst of it without keeping me from hearing the useful things.

but I refuse to reduce my hearing, it's my main way of navigating the world without eyesight.

That's valid, I just don't like getting overwhelmed from input. They're a brain saver for me in really crowded situations.

I spent years learning that control. my uncles put me in martial arts and yoga and meditation and anything else that could think of because back then no one had any clue

I basically just end up on constant HIGH THREAT alert because my spidey sense goes haywire if I don't have the filters in while I'm in busy places.

I get migraines and panic attacks. not so much now, but when I was younger it was a lot. I've gotten used to a lot though since then and I more understand what I'm sensing, which makes a huge difference. I don't have any spidey senses though. it can still be overwhelming sometimes though.

Ew dude I would not wish migraines on anyone. Mom had them and they were wretched. I'm glad understanding what you're sensing helped out though.

migraines suck. they're pretty rare now, though I'm sure I just cursed myself.

Oh yeah. She's got people who have people and those people have legit minions. I was kinda busy getting all primped and stuff, but like. They had a magic barista on staff and someone specifically to pour the wine. And somebody buffed my nails and did trimmy things to my eyebrows.
